WILLINGDON SCHOOL
Many college and university Design and Technology Departments have recently been requesting quotations from Dust Control Services for their workshops. Many of these departments do not have any dust control, or the equipment they do have is misapplied or underrated. As a general standard, the Health and Safety authorities advise that operators of woodworking machinery in industry should not be exposed to more than 5 mg/cu. metre of fine dust. Dust Control Services feel that it is just as important, if not more important, that our students' health is subject to the same rigorous standards, especially in view of the rise in chest diseases such as asthma, etc. There is increased use of MDF material in school workshops due to its flexibility and malleability, but unfortunately this material gives off large quantities of respirable dust. Correctly designed capture hoods and carefully selected filtration units are especially important with MDF dust, due to its classification as a fire and explosion risk by the Health and Safety authorities, and if at all possible, the extraction filter should be located outside. WILLINGDON SCHOOL in Eastbourne were typical of many schools with unsatisfactory dust control equipment and called in Dust Control Services Ltd. to advise on a solution to their workshop dust problems. The system is maintenance free, apart from emptying the collected waste, it is quiet and will give many years trouble free service. Dust Control have 35 years' experience in the dust control
industry and would be pleased to carry out a free survey and
advise on the most suitable dust control equipment for your
workshop if we can be of assistance, please contact us.
